What is Islam

Islam's stance on what is permissible to eat and what is not is clear. There are strict rules when it comes to meat regarding what is allowed and what is forbidden. In Surat Al-Maida (The Table) Allah says: "Forbidden to you (for food) are: AI-Maytatah (the dead animals -cattle-beasts not slaughtered), blood, the flesh of swine, and the meat of that which has been slaughtered as a sacrifice for others than Allah or has been slaughtered for idols etc, or on which Allah's Name has not been mentioned while slaughtering and that which has been killed by strangling or by a violent blow or by a headlong fall or by the goring of horns - and that which has been (partly) eaten by a wild animal - unless you are able to slaughter it(before its death) and that which is sacrificed (slaughtered) on AnNusub (stone altars). Scholars have specified the requirements of the Muslim woman's proper dress before al-ajaanib (lit. foreigners, i.e., those to whom marriage is permissible) from both the Glorious Qur'an and the sunnah. Once a woman adheres to such conditions, she can wear whatever she likes and go out into public places so far as her hijab complies with Islamic law. A summary of the requirements are as follows: 1: It should cover the whole body. 2: It should be thick enough, i.e. non-transparent or translucent. 3: It should be loose and not tight on her body. 4: It should not be decorated or ornate such as to attract onlookers. 5: It should not be perfumed. 6: It should not be considered libaas al-shuhrah. 7: It should not resemble the dress of men. 8: It should not resemble the dress of the unbelievers. 9: It should not bear crosses or depictions of anything with a soul (humans, animals, etc). This is a summary of the requirements according to the Islamic shari'ah.

Question My questions involves many things. I am a very new convert and at first I was praying all prayers as best I could (I don't know Arabic) Someone told me I should only speak in Arabic, so in the end I have stopped praying. It is ironic that God has guided me to Islam (the Truth) in the United States, where unbelief ideology dominates the society. Especially more so, when I have spent 5 years of my childhood in Muslim dominated societies (countries). About five years ago, I was fifty-two years old and a Christian. I had not become a member of any Christian church, but all my life I had been searching for the truth. I attended many churches and studied with their teachers. All fell short and I recognized none as being the truth about Allah. Since I was nine years old, I had read the Bible every day of my life. I cannot tell you, over the many years, how many times I searched it for the truth. During the long years of my search for the truth, I studied with many religious faiths. For over a year I studied two times a week with a Catholic priest, but could not accept Catholic beliefs. I spent another year studying with the Jehovah Witnesses and did not accept their beliefs either.
